The benefit of understanding your self-perception will help you to be more creative, will make you an understanding person, will increase your achievements, you will be able to manage changes and conflicts and you will also have more confidence in yourself.
There are three types of self-perception skills:
- Emotional
Self Awareness means recognizing our feelings and differentiating them, knowing
what are the causes of those feelings, and what are the impacts of those
feelings towards the people surrounding us and how they affect a person
performance.
- Self-Regard
means that an individual is able to respect and accept himself, he/she should
like the way they are and accept both of their optimistic and your undesirable
sides.
- Self-Actualization
means that a person changes to the better, reaching your potential it is
something that you do to improve yourself.
- Anger:
I feel angry when my younger sister doesn’t do the right thing, I try to tell her to study but she doesn’t care for her studies as she cares for her iPad. I took her iPad to make her concentrate on her studies but she cries and make me yell at her and say that she will not get it back unless she earns high grades. I liked my reaction because I wanted her to improve, and I didn’t like it because I shouted on her. Next time I would prefer to motivate her by saying that she will be able to use her iPad only during holidays and by having good grades.
- Happiness:
November is my happiest month, because I was born during that month. What makes me happy is the phrase “happy birthday”. But that day I didn’t hear it from my father; I thought he forgot. I really got mad and didn’t speak to him, but I realized that I was mistaken since he made a surprise that I loved by getting me a cake and some gifts from my loved ones. I didn’t like my reaction because I misjudged my father, but next time I will not judge people.
- Fear:
What scares me the most is that others might not like my cooking. One day I went to the kitchen and decided to make my 1st cake. I added all of the ingredients and then put the cake into the oven, waited for a couple of minutes and then took it out and then cut the cake and served the cake with some melted chocolate. Everybody enjoyed the taste of the cake. I didn’t like the way that I was thinking at the beginning because when a person have confidence he will be able to produce good things.
- Anxiety:
This feelings comes to me when I have exam, I keep on thinking what are the questions that will be in the exam and what should I study the most. I don’t really like the way I react because this makes me nervous. I will try to study better and this will not let me feel nervous because I will have enough knowledge to let me have a high grade in the exam.
- Sadness:
The saddest moment in my life is the death of my mother’s grandmother. She was like a mother to me. I cried a lot after her death. My reaction was natural because we all cry for the ones we love and I knew that I will never see her only in haven.
